Working within the arts and humanities

My career as a graphic designer started in the arts and humanities. Working as an educator, museum preparator, and community programs coordinator, I regularly saw the need for more designers. Pulling from my studies and practice of drawing, printmaking, and photography, I started finding design work on the side through arts organizations. This soon became a profession and ten years later I’m grateful to continue working in these fields.

Working for the cause

Another side of my design work involves advocacy. I earned my MSW in 2023 in an effort to deepen my community organizing skills. Similar to my work in the arts and humanities, I once again saw a need for more designers. Today, I take on a lot of projects designing materials that help get the word out for social and environmentally focused causes and campaigns.

Working with collaborators and fellow creatives

The majority of my design work involves a lot of communication, back and forth, adjustments or re-designs with clients. But some projects are outright more collaborative in their nature than others. With these kinds of projects I try to work with clients, rather than for clients, through creative processes that bring a shared vision to light.
